How Do You Get To MS-DOS In Windows XP?
Windows XP, like previous visions versions of the Windows operating system, acts like a shell for MS-DOS. The MS-DOS core is still available and operational beneath the Windows shell. You can still access the MS-DOS command prompt through Windows. This can be useful when running or analyzing older MS-DOS-based programs, when learning about the basics of operating system command structure or when writing and executing your MS-DOS-based scripts and programs. The procedure to open the command prompt is quite simple. Open the “Start” menu and click “All Programs.” Click “Accessories,” and then click the “Command Prompt” shortcut. The MS-DOS command prompt will appear. Click inside the command prompt window to ensure the window is activated. You can now use MS-DOS commands through this window.
