Auchen Castle Hotel is just off the B7076 about a mile north of Beattock. Beattock is served by three main bus services operated by Stagecoach West Scotland, the 382, X74 and the X74A. The 382 operates between Gretna and Moffat via Lockerbie every hour until about 7pm, with a reduced service on Sunday. The X74 operates between Dumfries and Glasgow via Moffat, Lesmahagow and Hamilton three times a day (twice on Sunday). The X74A operates between Dumfries and Moffat four times a day, but not at all on a Sunday. Each of these will set you down at the northern end of Beattock village if you wish to walk the last mile or so. Alternatively, you can get off the bus in the centre of Moffat and get a taxi to the hotel. If you are coming from the south by train, alight at Lockerbie and catch the 382 from Bridge Street.
