First, your friend needs to buy 3 things. Grocery list: Baking Powder Isopropyl Alcohol (rubbing alcohol) 1 spray bottle Fill the spray bottle with the alcohol and regularly spray inside the shoe. The alcohol kills the bacteria that cause the odor. Sprinkle the baking soda into the shoes regularly. The baking soda absorbs moisture and eliminates any residual odor. Quick, cheap, and easy. If it works on my stepson’s shoes (insert massive shudder there) it will work on your friend’s shoes. One other tip is not for the shoes, but for the feet. He can try periodically soaking his feet in a warm tub with some epson salts and tea bags (4or5). The epson salts help the foot feel great and the tannins in the tea bags clean any bacteria and dry out the foot a bit.

Firstly, wear cotton socks with shoes if possible. That will absorb the sweat therefore keeping away the bacteria and smell. Other than that, baby powder and Goldbond makes a foot powder. Those do the same thing, absorb sweat and prevent bacteria from growing.
