How do you get tar & grease out of clothes without breaking the bank? All natural would be nice?
Well, I’m not sure how effective this would be against asphalt tar, but Dawn dish soap works pretty well against grease and oil in general – and it is safe enough that it is used when cleaning birds coated with oil from oil spills. I use it to degrease the driveway, and clean oil up in general. With the tar though, it may take some elbow grease (no pun intended). Ive ‘blotted’ small spots of tar up out of carpeting, with pieces of brown paper bag, and an iron, on a low heat setting. (This works to remove wax too, by the way). I’m not sure how you would go about a ‘mass’ cleaning of tar from clothing – I can’t think of anything ‘natural’ that would remove it quickly. Here are some suggestions – 1) Have your husband ask his co-workers how they get their clothes clean. 2) Invest in some disposable clothing (or safety clothing). You can get disposable coveralls from safety supply businesses – these are a Tyvek product, more often than not. You can get a 2 piece (pants and jacket), or 1 pie
