How Do You Get Shiny Pokemon in Pokemon Crystal?
If you’ve seen a Pokemon of a different color that flashes before battle, you’ve seen a shiny Pokemon. Some shiny Pokemon are so incredibly rare and are highly sought after, there’s a 1 in 8,192 chance of encountering one. Your best bet to get one is to go after a shiny Ditto. Ditto can breed with almost any Pokemon, and the odds are 1 in 64 that the new Pokemon will be a shiny. Ditto is a rare shiny itself, but a less rare red Gyarados from the Lake of Rage will help you find Ditto. Play through the game’s story until you reach the Lake of Rage, north of Mahogany Town then safe the game. You must have plenty of Pokeballs, Great Balls, or Ultra Balls in stock, because you need to catch the red Gyarados. You must have a Pokemon with the HM move Surf in your party as well. Surf in the Lake of Rage, approach the red Gyarados, and press the action button to begin battle with the Pokemon. Weaken it using attack moves, but don’t knock it out. Catch it using a Pokeball, Great Ball, or Ultra B
