How Do You Get Rubber Cement Out Of Clothes?
Rubber cement by design is a very durable, waterproof, and difficult-to-remove substance. These qualities are certainly desirable in most rubber cement applications, but not when you accidentally get rubber cement on your clothes. But there is no need to throw those clothes away, you can save them by using the right cleaning method. Inspect the rubber cement on the clothing, and determine whether it penetrated into the fibers of the fabric, or dried on top. Use a clean pencil eraser to rub the rubber cement off if it has dried on the surface of the clothing. Treat rubber cement stains that have soaked into the fabric with rubber cement thinner, available at art supply stores. Get a clean, damp cloth and apply the rubber cement thinner to it. Test the thinner on a small part of the clothing that is not seen when worn to ensure that it will not stain. Rub the cloth firmly against the rubber cement on the garment to remove it. Repeat with multiple applications of thinner as necessary.
