The trick is applying it fairly soon after your dog has been sprayed. Don’t let your dog in the house. Put him on a chain or leash temporarily to prevent him spreading the skunk smell everywhere indoors. Put on old clothes you don’t care about. In addition to keeping the skunk odor off your furniture, you probably don’t want it on your best work outfit either. Change into a shirt and pants you’re willing to discard. Mix 1 quart of 3% hydrogen peroxide, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon dish washing liquid in a bucket. Apply it liberally all over your dog’s coat with a sponge.
