Use a shovel to fill a bucket with a shovel or two of wood ashes from a wood stove or campfire. Do this outdoors because it will be messy. The ashes must be burnt wood ashes which are a good source of potassium. Do not use ashes from painted or treated wood. Fill the bucket with water by pouring it over the wood ashes. Let this sit for a couple days.
