How do you get rid of serious hard water stains from old glasses?

Are the glasses etched from soft water maybe? If in fact they are hard water stains you can try washing them with vinegar or you can use lime away on them. I use to have hard water and that’s what I used on mine. If the glasses are etched then nothing will take that out. Etching is caused by using too much dish washing detergent with the use of soft water.

Add one cup of white vinegar to a sinkful of clear water; let soak for an hour before rinsing in clear hot water. If that doesn’t work: add several denture cleaning tablets to a sinkful of clear water. After the tablets dissolve, soak the glasses. Always dry your glasses with a soft, lint-free cloth (my mother-in-law called it a “tea towel”).
