In climates where the temperature is constantly hot and the cool air from the north comes in for frequent rain showers, powdered mildew is common on plants. In these high-humidity climates, plants retain more moisture than elsewhere. This leads to a white, powdery fungi that attacks the leaves, fruit and flowers. Prompt cleanup is the only way to ensure a productive crop and appealing garden. Fill the spray bottle with cool, clean water. Combine one cap full of hydrogen peroxide with the water in the spray bottle. Spray the diluted hydrogen peroxide over the plant’s surface, covering all visible leaves, fruit and flowers. Repeat this treatment once every week until the mildew has receded completely. Rinse thoroughly with water from the garden hose after each treatment.
