Moles are small, blind rodents that burrow tunnels underground and eat roots, grubs and earthworms. The tunnels they make leave long, barren strips of ground in the yard where no grass can grow. Luckily, moles are fairly easy to remove, and they can usually be captured and relocated without harming them. Alternatively, there are also several lethal methods to kill moles using poison and commercial traps. Try any one or a combination of these methods to get rid of the moles digging up your lawn. Identify an active mole tunnel. This can be done by finding a mole “runway” and stomping in a section of it. Runways can be identified by a long narrow stretch of ground in which no grass grows. Stomp on the section to cave it in, and if it’s active, the mole will repair it within one day. Insert a water hose into a mole hill.
