Keeping your athletic equipment clean, dry and allowing it to air-out after use will go a long way toward preventing that nasty brownish-green slime from growing on your protective gear. But if mold creeps up on you, follow these steps to cleaning, disinfecting and getting the smell out of your helmet and pads. Spray or apply from a squirt bottle a small quantity of soft scrub cleaner to the area with mold. Allow to set for a few minutes so the cleaner can eat into the fungus.
