Mold and mildew are fast-growing organisms that thrive on moisture. They can invade almost any home in a very short amount of time and spread like wildfire to your walls and insulation. Mold and mildew can do more than make your home look and smell bad; they can also make you very sick. They can trigger allergic reactions or illnesses, grow inside your lungs and in severe cases, they can cause death. The only way to remove mold or mildew from within a wall is to replace the infected wall. Fill a spray bottle with a mixture of bleach and water. Follow the directions on the bottle of bleach for the proper ratio of water to bleach for killing mold. Spray the outside of the infected wall with the mixture and wipe it off with a clean towel. Repeat this process until you cannot get any more mold off the wall. Remove a small square in the wall with a saw.
