Knowing where the nest is and how they gained access to the house should be one part of your research. With no offense meant at all I’m always bothered by what so many assume in the strict definition of BAIT. Most often poisoned food substances. Any food residue is most attractive to insect type critters; even when invisible to us. AND might continue to attract even new hatchlings. I never tried this on ants; but since they have an exoskeleton; as Roaches do; and Boric Acid powder is most effective on Roaches; though not strictly a “poison” to them; you might try it. It is toxic to Human and animals mammals however. It’s readily available in hardware stores Lowes; HD; some garden shops; and is relatively inexpensive as well as being easy to dispense in soft plastic bottles with nozzles.
