It is hard to do in areas with lots of ants. We have fire ants as well as almost any size and colour you may want in our south Texas area. There are several things you can do. First keep all areas as clean as you can. Wipe areas with a soapy cloth to remove the scent trails left by the ants. They follow scent trails. Never allow dirty dishes to sit in the sink. If you just rinse all dishes off and remove the left overs will really help. I keep things like bread, crackers, noodles, oatmeal and the like in the freezer or refrigerator. Ants don’t like the cold. Then as a lasting barrier, have a pest control come and put a perimeter of insecticide around the entire house outside. Have a pest control that uses a probe to inject insecticide below the ground surface as ants will burrow down and go under the surface to get inside your home. Good luck…it is a constant battle!
