How do you get rid of a foul smell from the bathroom sink?
The sink probably has some build-up on the inside of the drain pipe. If it does you’ll need to remove the pop-up and clean the inside. The pop-up is the plunger that goes up and down when you lift the rod and causes the sink to hold water when it is in the down position. Just go into your cabinet and look on the back side of the chrome (or plastic) pipe just a few inches below the bottome of the sink bowl. There will be a round nut that is usually just finger tight. If it’s an older sink it may be slightly tighter than finger tight depending on how strong your fingers are. Just loosen the nut and pull the rod out a couple of inches with one hand while placing you other hand inside the sink and lifting the plunger out. Tighten the nut temporarily (finger tight) while you clean the sink. When done, just loosen the nut and pull out on the rod a couple of inches while you insert the plunger back into place.
