How Do You Get Red Wine Stains Out Of Clothing?

0

Ports, Zinfandels, Merlots among other red wines are highly aromatic with a full flavor. These taste good, but look awful on your clothing. Don’t toss garments in the trash that have red wine stains; these can be removed easily and inexpensively. Blot excess wine out of clothing with a cloth dampened with cold water or rinse out wine stain under very cold running water. Ring out excess water. Lay clothing on flat surface where it will not be disturbed and pour standard table salt(ie Morton) on wine stain. Be sure to completely cover stain, salt should be about 1/8inch (3mm) in thickness. Gently rub salt in to stain with your fingers, but be careful not to rub to hard as you could damage the fabric. Let fabric set overnight, up to 24 hours. Launder as usual on warmest and longest amount of time that the clothing can tolerate. When cycle is complete, recheck the wine stain. If it is still visible repeat steps.
