One of the most common problems among amateur golfers and even some veterans is controlling swing tempo. Many golfers try to swing too hard or too fast, thinking the ball will travel farther with this approach. Swinging hard and fast does increase distance, but without the proper swing tempo to fit your body, the chances of your shot being consistently accurate dramatically decrease. Practicing a few techniques will help with your swing tempo. Practice your swing on the range with a bucket of balls. Start first by swinging only about 75 percent of your full swing to get a feel for your current swing’s tempo. Try to make your swing one fluid motion, with no stops, stutters or dramatic acceleration or deceleration. Think of a child on a swing. They never stop at the top; it is gravity that pulls them down and increases the swing speed slightly. Think of your backswing as being close to the same speed as your downswing. A player with a very quick backswing should not have a very slow down
