As the name states, the ink in permanent markers is waterproof to allow for permanent writing. This is a feature that can be nervewrecking when the permanent marker ink comes in contact with fabric and upholstery. Since the marker is waterproof and permanent, removing the unsightly stains from fabric can be difficult, but it’s not impossible. Fill a small container with 2 cups of cold water. Add 1 tbsp. of liquid dish soap and 1 tbsp. of white vinegar. Mix together with a spoon. Dampen a white cloth in the mixture. Blot the permanent marker stain with the cloth until it is thoroughly saturated. Allow the mixture to sit on the stain for 30 minutes. Blot the stain with the damp cloth every five minutes during the 30 minutes wait time. Dampen a clean white cloth with cool water. Blot the area to remove the mixture from the fabric.
