I experienced what you did 9 years ago. We had a wonderful orange tabby that we had for 18 years. He was our baby. He got cancer in his liver and bowels and we had to have him put to sleep. I felt as if a part of my insides had been ripped out. Seven months later, one night I was outside and heard a kitten meowing loudly. I investigated and found a 4 month old kitten with its leg broken. Animal control had been called….I got my pet carrier, and took the little waif into an emergency vet. They checked him out and said he was fine except for the leg. They gave him some pain medication and I brought him home. I fixed him a place in our 2nd bathroom so he would be comfortable and my wife’s other cats would not bother him. I got him situated and began to talk to him and pet him. He began to purr very loudly and nuzzled my hand. I started crying. I knew right then and there the old orange tabby had sent this little waif to me to heal my broken heart.
