Your first impulse might be to cover the oil stains or replace the carpet. However, in almost every case you can salvage the carpet. With a little time and just some basic cleaning items you probably already have around the house, you should be able to get rid of any oil spots on your car’s carpet. Blot the area with paper towels. Even if the stain is not fresh, you may be able to remove residual dirt and oil this way, which will lessen the possibility of spreading this grime to other areas of the carpet as you clean.
