Among this mass number of cribs, 1,213,000 were distributed in the U.S., while 968,000 are sitting in homes in Canada. 147,000 of these possess a Fischer-Price logo. The cribs were recalled by the manufacturer due to a problem with the drop-side gate pieces breaking or deforming, causing the potential for the infant to trap himself in between the gate and the mattress. The mass recall comes after 110 reported incidents of the drop-side malfunctioning or breaking, 15 of which resulted in entrapments. Out of those 15, tragically, 4 turned out to be fatal.
