The training necessary to work in food service management can be obtained by working in the food service industry, earning a college degree in hospitality or food service management or completing an employee management training program. Food service managers need to have an understanding of every aspect of the food industry in order to be successful. Excellent customer relations, communication skills and the ability to multi-task are important skills to develop when working with a variety of people each day. Gain experience working in the food industry as a waiter, cashier, host, hostess or cook in a restaurant, hospital, small cafe, resort or cafeteria.
