How Do You Get Drinking Water From Bamboo?
Drinking water is one of the most pressing things if you find yourself lost and are trying to stay alive to make it back to civilization. If you are lost in the jungle or a tropical climate, one ready source of water is bamboo. With a few simple tools, you can get all the water you may need. Find a grove of bamboo. If you are in a tropical climate and/or in the jungle this should not be too difficult. Select a small stalk of bamboo about the thickness of a drinking straw. Cut the stalk at the point where there is a section long enough to serve as a straw. Use a leaf or piece of cloth to remove the tiny fuzz that is on the outside of the stalk. This fuzz may cause skin irritation. Trim the piece of bamboo to length between the two joints. Locate another stalk of bamboo approximately 4 to 5 inches in diameter. If you find one that shows bulging at the joints of the sections, you have a better chance of finding more water in that stalk. Cut a “V” shaped notch in the stalk above the joint
