How Do You Get Control Of An Overweight Child?
A recent study from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey shows that 17% of children ages 2 to 19 are overweight, with another 15% at risk of being obese. A startling one-third of adults are obese, raising the concern for children who are heading into this dangerous category. Parents of overweight children have the difficult but necessary task of getting control of their child’s diet and weight before they become just another at risk statistic. Parents must first understand the very real and very serious risk of childhood obesity. It raises the chances for diabetes, heart disease, sleep apnea, bone disease, and psychological problems, just to name a few. Logically, we know that if a child plays with a knife or other weapon the risks are incredible that they could be injured or killed. If we can understand that a daily diet of fats and junk food is also likely to cause harm to our child then we can understand the urgency and our responsibility in taking charge of the situ
