A certified instructor for the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education (TCLEOSE) has successfully completed a wide array of education, has experience as a teacher in the subject area to be taught and has either degrees or substantial experience in law enforcement. Candidates must successfully complete an instructor training course or its equivalent. Complete the necessary requirements for TCLEOSE Instructor Certification. This includes an educational background, experience teaching and field experience in law enforcement. The state of Texas recognizes experience and education from other states as well as within Texas. You can obtain TCLEOSE teaching experience by training others in the use of firearms while under the supervision of a certified TCLEOSE Instructor.
