Oops. You left the laundry in the washer for a night or two, and now no matter how many times you re-wash them, your clothes still reek of mildew! Not to worry – try this handy all-natural trick the next time you’re stuck with stinky, musty laundry. Sort mildewed clothing by color, like normal. Wash whites and darks in different loads, and wash reds and towels by themselves to avoid bleeding or pilling. For whites and light-colored towels: Turn water setting to hot, then put two capfulls of eucalyptus oil in with the water and add detergent as normal. For colors and dark-colored towels: Turn water setting to warm or cold (cold is better for the environment), then put two capfulls of eucalyptus oil in with the water and add detergent as normal. Wash clothes on the 15 minute cycle, or the longest setting your washer allows. When washing is complete, hang the clean laundry outside in the sun to dry.
