Search for oil and gas related job announcements in area newspapers in states with prolific energy booms, like Texas, Wyoming or Alaska. Post your resume on an online oil workers’ registry like rigzone.com. Membership should be free, and the Web sites offer access to oilfield job boards. Get hands-on job training at a drilling school. Courses are usually about 10 days, and training centers are available across the country, including the Mutchinson Drilling School in New Mexico, the Rocky Mountain Oil and Gas Drilling School and the McMurry Regional Training Center in Casper, Wy.
