Chocolate usually has a red undertone that leaves the stain. For red wine, chocolate and taco sauce stains I first dampen the spot with water, add a ton of tablesalt and let the salt pull out the color. Then I use Naptha soap, the soap from H***. It truly is. I have used Naptha soap on red stains for decades. It is a big yellow bar of soap in wax paper in the cleaning aisle of the store. My mother in law turned me on to it. First you dampen then you scrub the stain with the bar of soap, rub the area together, scrub with a soft bristle brush in a small circle (so that the bristles barely move across the surface so as not to rough up the wool). Repeat until stain is gone.
