How Do You Get A Bartending Job With No Experience?
Tending bar can be a fun and lucrative job. If you enjoy people and don’t mind staying up late at night, tending bar will give you the opportunity to be creative and meet a wide variety of people you may never have met otherwise. Bartending also gives you experience in the restaurant industry that you may be able to use to someday manage or own your own bar or restaurant. Getting a bartending job without experience is challenging, but not impossible. Make a list of 10 or 15 bars or restaurants with bars that you would like to work in. Visit each one and see if they are hiring for any position, not just for a bartending position. Apply for a position as a server, busboy or barback at the restaurants or bars you have selected. When interviewing, don’t tell the person that you really would rather be a bartender. Be happy to accept the job you are offered and do it well. Observe the bartenders while you are on duty.
