A B-2 visa must be granted to anyone from a foreign country entering the United States for a short-term visit. Perhaps you would like to visit friends or family, get medical treatment or attend meetings or training required by your company. These are all reasons to request a B-2 visa. If you are traveling to the U.S. for other business-related activity, you would request a B-1 visa. To receive a B-2 visa, you must provide evidence that you have honorable intentions regarding entering the U.S. and while visiting. U.S. authorities will want to know that you have a strong residency in your own country and that you will return when your visa time is up. Get a letter from your sponsor. This can be a relative, friend or colleague who is willing to vouch for your good character. The letter will need to include some documentation proving this person is a stable individual.
