How Do You Germinate Seeds Using Artificial Light?

0

Although the spring and summer months are the best time to germinate seeds, it’s possible to start plants inside if you use artificial light. The following guide will teach you how to do so using even the simplest of house lamps. Fill a relatively small pot with potting soil to right below the top of the pot. Create a small indentation in the top of the soil using your finger, and pour about two to three seeds in the indentation. Recover the seeds with potting soil. If you want to germinate more seeds, repeat Step 2, as long as you have reasonable space in the soil to do so. Pour a generous amount of water over the top of the soil so that the seeds are moist. Until the seeds germinate you’ll want to keep adding water to maintain moisture around the seeds. Place the pot under a lamp, such as a desk lamp, that is lit with an incandescent light bulb. The light will keep the seeds warm until they are ready to germinate. For most plants you could start seeing sprouts within a few days.
