The job of fundraising is perhaps the most difficult part of being involved in a cheerleading team. In fact, this job should begin before the squad ever has its first practice. The funds collected from these efforts typically go to purchase uniforms, equipment and supplies. The more a team can fundraise, the less out of pocket expenses they will have as individuals. Open a team bank account. This account should have at least three authorized users, for example: the coach, the assistant coach and the team mom. Many banks offer free checking accounts for sports teams. Get sponsors for your team from local businesses or individuals. Most sponsorships are tax deductible (check with your cheer organization for specifics on non-profit tax status) and many local businesses owners will gladly sponsor a team for this reason.
