How Do You Freeze Fresh Herbs For Easy Use?

0

Ever wish you had those fresh herbs you grew in the cold winter months? Here’s a quick and easy way, that a fellow gardener showed me, to freeze my herbs so I can use them quickly. This method allows you to take out and use the right amount that you need. Gather your fresh herbs that you would like to freeze. Decide how you will use them in recipes. Do you use leaves, chopped and/or whole? As examples in this article I am going to use two herbs Chives and basil. Clean any dead or yellowed parts of the herbs. Rinse with cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Let’s start with chives. I like to use them whole for a finishing touch for some dishes. Lightly spray cookie sheet with olive oil. Lay the chives on cookie sheet in a single layer. Place in freezer for 30 minutes. With permanent marker date and label freezer bag. Remove herbs from freezer, place in labeled freezer bags and return to freezer. Another way I use chives in recipes is chopped. Using cutting board and sharp knife chop
