How Do You Freeze Dry Coffee Beans?
Coffee can remain fresh at room temperature, if properly stored, for approximately two weeks. If you happen to purchase your coffee in bulk, coffee roasters and connoisseurs recommend that you freeze large amounts of coffee beans, removing only small portions from the freezer for immediate consumption. Pour bulk coffee into a large glass bowl. Open the plastic bags, and place them on a work surface. Each bag represents the daily amount of coffee beans consumed in your household. Use the scoop to divide beans into the plastic bags. Coffee will oxidize, which will cause its flavor to degrade. Force the remaining air out of the plastic bags to maintain freshness. Make sure the plastic bags are properly sealed, and put them in the freezer. Remember, coffee is porous, which means it will absorb moisture from other food in your freezer. Remove the daily portion from your freezer when you need it. Do not put it back into the freezer or into your refrigerator.
