Measure your door and cut an opening in your wall to fit. Your frame will be built 6 inches wider and 1 inch taller than the actual size of the door you plan to install to allow for the frame and door materials. The standard door height is 6’8″ and typically, a door opening is around 2’8″. Cut a 2×4 piece the width of the opening and nail to the floor as a shoe platform for the studs.
