How Do You Format The Hard Disk And Install Windows XP?
Whenever you install Windows XP on your computer, you are given the option to format the hard drive you are installing the operating system to. This formatting process clears out all of the data that is on the drive, making it ready for a clean installation of the Windows XP operating system. Place the CD in your computer and restart it. Boot from the CD by pressing any key when you see the “Press any key to boot from CD…” message appear. Press the “Enter” key at the welcome screen and then press the “F8” key. Press the up and down arrow keys to select the hard disk you wish to format. Press the “Enter” key and then choose what size you want the partition to be. Press the “Enter” key again and then choose the “Quick Format” option. Press “Enter” a final time to start the Windows XP installation. This installation takes around 45 minutes to complete, so be patient before you use the operating system.
