How Do You Format & Install SATA Hard Drives?
One of the best upgrades you can make is adding a SATA hard drive to your computer. A faster hard drive can reduce the time it takes programs to launch and offer more storage for additional programs and data. SATA hard drives are known for their easy installation and excellent performance. Older IDE hard drives had a bulky ribbon connector that had to be carefully oriented in the correct position. Newer SATA drives have smaller easily attached cables. Backup your computer operating system and data using drive image or disk clone software. Creating a disk image will ensure all operating system and program settings are preserved. Remove the cover to your computer. If you are replacing an existing drive, continue to the next step. Otherwise, proceed to step 4. Remove the existing hard drive by using a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws holding the drive in place.
