Windows XP makes formatting a disk drive easy. Zip disks, floppy disks and hard drives can all be formatted using Windows XP with only a few clicks of the mouse. The format screen will present you with several options including quick format and naming the volume. Make sure that any data you might need at a later date is backed up to another source before you begin the disk format, as this information will be lost once the process is complete.
