How Do You Format A Disc Drive Using Windows XP?
Windows XP makes formatting a disk drive easy. Zip disks, floppy disks and hard drives can all be formatted using Windows XP with only a few clicks of the mouse. The format screen will present you with several options including quick format and naming the volume. Make sure that any data you might need at a later date is backed up to another source before you begin the disk format, as this information will be lost once the process is complete. Insert the disk you want to format if it is not an installed hard drive. Click on “My Computer” on your desktop. Select and highlight the disk you want to format by single clicking on the icon. Right click on the highlighted icon. A text box of options will pop up on your screen. Choose “Format” from the options given. This will open the “Format” window.
