So just follow the steps below to get started. Turn off the hot water tank switches that control the electric and gas heating elements. Turn on the hot water until cool water starts to run. This will prevent you from burning your hands when flushing out the hot water tank. Look on the exterior of the RV and find the panel that holds the hot water tank. Turn off the water to your RV. Turn off the water pump. Remove the nylon drain plug using a crescent wrench. Use your fingers once it gets loose to finish unscrewing it. Allow the tank to drain.
