How do you flush a 2003 doge caravan radiator?
If you are going to do it yourself, drain the coolant and take the upper and lower radiator hoses off and run a watering hose to it flush with the hose or you can drain your antifreeze from the coolant system, get a cleaning solvent for coolant systems, “Restore” works great, read the directions and ensure you get the correct water(you will be filling with tap water)to solvent ratio, run your vehicle with the heater on full heat also if it has a rear heater that must be on also, run until it gets to operating temperature then drain. refill with tap water and do the same thing, make sure you have flushed all of the solvent out before refilling with new antifreeze, do not use the same old antifreeze.
Here is a general flush procedure. Start with cold radiator Add 1 can 10Min Flush (available at auto parts store) to radiator not plastic bottle. Start car and drive 10-20 minutes. Park and let cool. Open radiator cap and remove lower radiator hose from radiator to drain system. Replace lower radiator hose and remove upper radiator hose from radiator. Put garden hose into upper radiator hose and turn on water to fill system then turn hose down so water just comes out of rad hose. Start car turn heat to high and allow car to warm up. As car warms up keep turning up hose to keep water coming out of upper hose. When car is warm water will come out of radiator upper hose fitting. Keep running water until water that comes out of rad is clear. Use hose to rinse out plastic bottle and then empty bottle. Reconnect upper hose and disconnect lower to drain. Reattach lower hose and then fill system with 50/50 mix of coolent.
