How Do You Flavor Concord Wine With Welchs Grape Juice?
Wine made from Concord grapes has been around since colonial days. There is not a lot of variety to the taste of the wines made from the grape. However, the home winemaker does not have to be satisfied with that single flavor. A quick trip to the freezer section of a local grocery store can add a new flavor to a traditional favorite. You just have to know when in the wine-making process to add that extra kick. Process the grapes and begin the fermenting process, following your favorite Concord wine recipe. Move to Step 2 during the second step of fermentation and with the specific gravity at 1.095 (when you would normally add more sugar and yeast). Thaw three 11 1/2 oz. cans of frozen Welch’s grape juice concentrate of your choice by allowing the cans to sit out until they are room temperature. Add the three thawed cans of juice and half the sugar for which your wine recipe calls. Proceed with the normal fermentation and bottling directions of your recipe.
