How Do You Fix Windows Vista Print Spooler Not Starting?
Windows Vista users may experience trouble installing printer software that fails with an error report stating that “Processing cannot be continued because the Print Spooler Service has been stopped. Restart the computer to restart the Print Spooler Service and try again”. If you then try to restart the Print Spooler Service the following error is displayed – “Failed to read description, Error Code 2”. I have found that the following procedure will resolve the print spooler issue. Step 1 First, click Start, then right click Computer and select Manage, then click Device Manager, and then click View and then click Show Hidden Devices. Step 2 Select System Devices and then uninstall both the UMBus Enumerator as well as the UMBus Root Bus Enumerator. Step 3 Reboot and then click Start, then Control Panel and select Add Hardware.
