If your leather seats get too dry, they will crack, but fixing a tear in leather isn’t very difficult. Step 1 Open the leather repair kit. Use the sandpaper to buff the area around the tear in your leather car seat. Step 2 Rub the tear and the area around it with the alcohol wipe to clean the area for good adhesion. Step 3 Cut the patch to size—make it just big enough to cover the tear in the leather. Pull the back off the patch and stick it over the tear. Step 4 Mix the leather compound with the dye of choice from the leather repair kit. Mix in dye until the compound is the same color as your leather seat. Spread a thin coat of the compound over the patch and the area around the patch with the small wooden sti
