An XBox 360 with the red rings of death may seem worthless to many gamers as the red rings of death are a sign that the Xbox game machine has overheated and is no longer usable. Most gamers and Xbox users believe that an Xbox is destroyed once the red rings of death appear and that the machine must be sent back to Microsoft. There are, however, ways to fix the red ring of death on a Xbox 360. Step 1 Open the xBox 360 case. Remove all screws in the outer casing so that it can be completely separated from the computer unit. Step 2 Use a flat head screw driver to remove the heatsinks from the XBox cpu unit. Step 3 Remove the X Clamp posts with a one quarter inch wrench. Clean any remaining glue off with a small metal scraper. Step 4 Drill larger holes from the screws you just removed. Once you have drilled larger holes insert 2 inch screws so that they “encase” the hard drive and interior fan.
