Outlook Express has a known glitch by which the dictionary for the internal spell check software turns to French–and only French. What to do? Regardless of how it happened, you will likely need to change it back to English. Let’s look at how to solve the French spell-check quandary and get back to English. Open a web browser and navigate to the “Spell Checker for OE” site (see Resources). Click on a download link below “Download Locations”. Click the “Save” button that appears in the pop-up window to save the installation file to your desktop. Close Outlook Express if it is open. Double-click the “spell.exe” icon to start the installation wizard. Click the “Run” button and then click the “Next” button on the next several screens.
