How Do You Fix The DVD/CD-ROM Drive On A Xbox 360?
The Xbox 360 game console uses a DVD/CD-ROM drive to play game discs. Dirt can get into the DVD/CD-ROM drive and settle on the lens that the laser inside of the drive uses to read the game discs. This causes the discs to be read incorrectly and results in video glitches and other onscreen errors. Fixing the DVD/CD-ROM yourself can be done by cleaning the lens so that the laser can again read the game discs correctly. This requires opening the Xbox 360 and removing the DVD drive, but having the skill of an electrician is not necessary. Disconnect all of the cables from the Xbox 360. Put the Xbox 360 down on a table. Grab the left side of the front faceplate at the top and squeeze. Put two fingers of the right hand into the USB door at the bottom of the front faceplate and pull up. Remove the faceplate. Push in on the right side of the Xbox 360.
