How Do You Fix Problems Installing Older Software On Windows Vista?

Older software can be installed on Windows Vista by running it in compatibility mode. In compatibility mode, the software is installed in an environment similar to that of a previous version of Windows. Windows Vista allows you to select the version of the Windows operating system in which the software will work best. Right-click on the setup (.exe) icon of the software that you want to install and then select “Properties.” Click on the “Compatibility” tab of the Properties dialog box that opens. Click on the “Run this program in compatibility mode for” check box and then select the operating system on which the program was designed to work properly from the drop down box. Select the “Run this program as an administrator” check box. This option is unavailable if you are already logged in as an administrator.
