If Outlook Express has locked you out of your email, the fix is simple as long as you remember your password. The program’s settings probably changed during an update, but entering your password will solve the problem permanently. If you are locked out of your mail because you have forgotten your password, though, things become much more difficult. For security reasons Microsoft does not store your password in its database, so you will not be able to access your mail under your old login information, known as your Express Identity. Instead you will have to create a new Identity and forward your old mail there. Select “Accounts” from the Tools menu. Double-click the account you wish to change. Most users will only have one. Click on the “Servers” tab. Enter your password in the labeled field under “Incoming Mail Server.” If you do not wish to have to log in every time, check the “Remember Password Box.” Exit out of the menus.
