Assuming that it is the power steering pump that the noise is coming from, and it’s not the belt, (these are 2 very different noises, and there’s really nothing else that could make a noise like the first one. Any other belt could make the 2nd noise) and that your power steering seems to be working otherwise, there are 2 things that you could do that might help. First is to flush the Power Steering fluid as follows: ______________________________________… Disconnect the low-pressure return hose at the pump, and point it into some sort of container to collect the fluid that comes out later. Put a cap or something on the fitting of the pump to keep it from draining out there. Then fill the pump, and keep filling it while you have someone start the car. Have them turn the steering wheel back and forth a little bit. The old fluid will be replaced by the new fluid as you do this. Just make sure you keep the pump from running low.
